Our 14-Step Process is described below and we’re ready to get started on one of the most satisfying experiences of your lifetime – building a new home that’s exactly the way YOU want it.  

 

Step 1: Call Mitchell Homes

 

The journey to your dream home begins at Step One with a call to Mitchell Homes and a visit to our website, here. It takes about 30 seconds (literally!) to create a MyMitchell account, where you can save images of your favorite homes and design inspiration photos. Also, you can set your preferences to recommendations of homes you may love. Our website is so easy to use and navigate.

 

As you browse through our array of floor plans and design options, just click the HEARTS where you see them to add to your favorites. Then, when you meet with our New Home Consultants and Design Specialists in Steps 5 and 7, you can quickly pull up all your favorite photos to review during the meeting.    

 

Step 2: Obtain Mortgage Pre-Approval

You can even click to see our gallery of floor plan options based on the number of bedrooms and bathrooms that you want, or even based on the preferred square footage ranging from 950 to over 3,000.

Step 4: Sign Construction Agreement

 

We’ll walk you through the construction agreement and answer any questions that you have. The process of building a home takes plenty of patience from start to finish, and your Mitchell Homes team wants you to feel completely comfortable with all the decisions and documents that come up along the way. 


Step 5: Personalize Your Home with Options & Upgrades

 

Here’s where you take a big step toward creating a home that’s unlike any other. Each Mitchell Home comes with over 50 standard interior and exterior features in addition to thousands of optional, affordable upgrades you can choose from to further personalize your new home. Would you believe that you can fully customize everything in the home down to the plugs on the walls, if you so desire? We offer over 40,000 different selections of options and upgrades. If you live near one of our four design studios, you can see many of these upgrades up-close.

Step 6: Complete Mortgage Application

 

We’ll help you complete and finalize the mortgage application. You can count on Mitchell Homes to have your back on this important step.

 

Step 7: Design Center Selections & Approval Plan Day

 

You’ll meet with our Design Specialists to select and finalize the design of your new home. Mitchell Homes offers thousands of design choices, so it’s helpful if you come to this meeting with all of your priority picks and must-have elements in mind. Our Mitchell Homes team will take all the time you need to design your new home exactly as you’ve always imagined it. When this meeting concludes, you will have approved the plan and given the green light to move forward on construction.

 

Step 8: Building Permit Received

 

Getting this required permit is on our checklist. Just another To-Do that your Mitchell Homes team will handle.

 

Step 9: Pre-Construction Lot Meeting

 

The Mitchell Homes team will schedule this meeting at a time that’s convenient for you. This is an opportunity to confirm and finalize details about the location of your new home on the land that you own. 

 

Step 10: Break Ground on Your Home

 

Construction on your dream home is officially underway—how exciting!

 

Step 11: Weekly Progress Reports from Your Construction Team

 

The weeks of construction are a time to truly embrace the journey of building a new home that you’ll be so proud to own. When you visit the construction site, take photos of the progress so you’ll have something to look back on. The Mitchell Home contractors appreciate your patience during construction since weather conditions and supply chain issues can sometimes result in unforeseen delays or adjustments to the schedule. Stay positive and keep the vision of your beautiful new home in mind – that’s the end result worth waiting for. 

 

Step 12: Construction Complete

Step 13: Pre-Closing Orientation & Mortgage Closing

 

Closing on your new home will be seamless thanks to the exceptional behind-the-scenes prep by our Mitchell Homes team. They’ll make sure that all the required documents are assembled and ready for your signature on closing day. All you have to do is show up, sign a lot of papers, and pick up the keys to your new home.

 

Step 14: Move-in Day!
